The Cover Illustration

There have been many inquires about the cover illustration of this book. The reaction to the cover has varied between extremes of admiration and respect to that of downright disgust and utter offense. The one consistency in the many responses to the cover has been the intense interest and curiosity that it stirs. So for anyone who might care; here is the cover story.

The illustration is a representation of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden about to engage in sexual intimacy as husband and wife. The snakes represent the demons of sexual perversion approaching to pervert human intimacy. The larger snake on Eve’s leg is satan, attempting to enter into Eve before Adam does. The bitten fruit on the ground is there to show that perversion contaminated human intimacy after man had initially disobeyed God. The fire represents the demons coming up out of hell but also represent God’s consuming fire and His plan to destroy evil and to once again purify mankind.

Every aspect of this book was inspired by God. When I asked The Lord for the cover, what you have seen is the vision that He showed me. I really struggled when I first saw the completed illustration. I knew that many “church folk” would have a problem with it. I tried in every way that I could to have the artist conceal the shocking nudity of the beautiful bodies of Adam and Eve, without compromising the vision. It was not possible.

God finally gave me peace when He helped me to understand that this book was never meant to appeal to the self-righteous and religious. The cover not only has a message in it, but it also appeals to those who are struggling with the very issues that this book addresses. Those who really want to be helped and those who want to help others are not bothered by the provocative nature of the cover because the truly mature understand the reality of sexual perversion and the necessity to no longer try to hide our need for deliverance.

In a study in “Christianity Today” 85% of Pastors claimed to speak on the topic of sex only once per year, but 46% of church-goers do not agree that is true, claiming that it is even less than once per year! 44% of church-goers stated that they need to hear more Biblical teaching on the topic of sex. That’s nearly half the church and believe me the other half need it too. Perhaps church folk ought to spend more time seeking out real people, with real testimonies, for a real deliverance to help educate the Body of Christ on a topic that most Pastors are obviously too uncomfortable to deal with. It is time that we awake from our slumber.

I don't waste time trying to justify the cover anymore. The cover is what it is. Some people find it really beautiful and effective as a tool to reach people struggling with sexual sin, while others find it offensive and unnecessarily graphic. One day I may change it. But for now, it stands as is. Don't judge the book by its cover. The content is what matters and the content is powerfully anointed to empower and deliver!

The Content

This book is broken into to 2 parts and is about sex, demons, and deliverance. I wrote it by mandate of The Lord. I did not want to write it at first. Who really wants to put their past out there the way that I have? Not many people do and I was no different at first. But then the Lord convicted my heart. He reminded me of how hard it was for me when I was trying to be a good Christian yet not knowing how to get delivered from my sexual demons. He reminded me how there was no one in the church willing to help me that had any real insightful knowledge or deliverance power. How could I say "no" after He put it like that? Besides, after all that He's done for me -- it's the least I can do.

In Part 1, the book gives the reader an in-depth look into sex and sexual addiction from a spiritual view. It teaches the origins of sexual relations, the purpose of sexual relations and satan's intent behind sexual perversion. It breaks down in detail the 10 major spirits of sexual perversion including: fornication, adultery, lust, masturbation, pornography and others. I am sure to make the reader feel as comfortable as possible during the reading of the book by very candidly sharing small portions of my testimony throughout. The reader never feels alone or judged.

In Part 2, the book gives an in-depth look into deliverance. It explains what deliverance is. It also lays the foundation by explaining that as we are triune beings made up of -- spirit, soul and body -- we must get deliverance in all three dimensions of self. I also teach people the truth that "deliverance is a process, not an event". This is very important because many people think that one fast, prayer, or church service will do the trick and this is simply not so! It takes time, effort and understanding. It is especially important to discover the root cause of sexual addiction and perversion. This is all discussed in a 12 step deliverance process. It is very effective for those who follow it.

The book has helpful charts, guides and questions for the reader's aid. It really is a complete and great tool for those who need deliverance or those who want to learn more about helping others get delivered.
